Top 5 *Shit People Say* Vids

At this point in time, I’d like to personally R.I.P. the *Shit People Say* meme by declaring my Top 5. If you think there’s a better one than these, go ahead and send my way, and I’ll consider amending the list.

5. Shit Single Girls Say. “Are there gonna be any hot guys there???”

4. Shit Foodies Say. “I’m not a foodie!” “I’m SUCH a foodie.”

3. Shit Nobody Says. “Hey does anybody know how I can make Papyrus my default font?”

2. Shit White Girls Say to Indian Girls. “Aishwarya Rai is so gorgeous. She doesn’t even look Indian.”

1. Shit Girls Say. “Listen, listen, listen, listen, listen, listen. SHUT UP!”

Honorable mentions:

Top 5 tracks (2011)

These are my personal favorite and most-played tracks of 2011. They brought me considerable listening pleasure, and perhaps you’ll enjoy as well. ** Look for the download link below to grab all 5 tracks (+honorable mentions). **

5. Maxwell – Ascension (Don’t Ever Wonder)

One of those old school songs that I’d heard before & loved but never got around to tracking down until this year. I overplayed the hell out of this song in Autumn/Winter 2011.

4. Kavinsky & Lovefoxxx – Nightcall

As I was watching Drive earlier this year (one of my favorite movies of 2011), I kept thinking about how much ass the soundtrack kicks. I subsequently got the soundtrack and listened to it over and over, although this one track in particular was on repeat the most.

3. LCD Soundsystem – Dance Yrself Clean

I usually start listening to this track right around the 3:00 point, but every once in a while I enjoy the very slow buildup of the first couple minutes.

2. Parov Stelar – Booty Swing

Shazam’d this from that Las Vegas “elevator” commercial. Love that vintage sound.

1. Richard Hawley – Tonight The Streets Are Ours

I of course have “Exit Through the Gift Shop” to thank for this gem. If I discovered this track just on its own, I probably wouldn’t have loved it so much, but its use in one of my favorite movies of all time was brilliant. I listened to this more than any other track during this summer’s artist residency in Berlin.

Honorable mentions: M83 – Midnight City (I listened to this song on repeat an entire Bolt Bus trip from NYC to DC.) Empire of the Sun – We Are The People (For some reason I especially loved listening to this track whilst riding the subway & walking the streets of NYC at night.) Richard Cheese – Down With The Sickness (2011 is the year I discovered the genius that is Richard Cheese.) Flight of the Conchords – Hurt Feelings (“We’re vincible.” Classic FOTC.) Cinnamon Chasers – The World Is Yours (Another one of those songs I’ve loved listening to whilst running and walking around the streets of New York.)

top 5 tracks (2010)

a slight disclaimer: i’m not saying these are THE ABSOLUTE BEST TRACKS OF 2010 (some of these weren’t even made in 2010). on the contrary, these were my personal favorite and most-played tracks of the year. they brought me much listening pleasure, and perhaps you’ll enjoy as well. ** look for the download link below to grab all 5 tracks. **

5. Modjo – Lady

was a tossup between this and “young folks” (peter bjorn & john), but opted for “lady” since i finally found this track in october after passively searching for it the last couple years. thank you shazam!

4. K’naan – Wavin’ Flag

the theme song for the 2010 world cup. granted i mostly listened to this song ONLY during the summer, but nonetheless, this song will forever remind me of this world cup.

3. Daft Punk – End of Line

a latecomer in the mix, “end of line” is one of several gems on the tron soundtrack. even though i obviously only came upon this at year’s end, i still consider it to be one of my fave tracks of 2010.

2. Cinnamon Chasers – Luv Deluxe

okay so you might be thinking “THIS made your top 5 tracks of the year?!” i will admit, it’s not the most original track in the world, BUT…as is often the case, when i love a music video, the song gains a LOT of brownie points. i discovered this track in autumn via its music video posted on vimeo and kept listening to it repeatedly right on through the end of the year. check out the music video below, perhaps it’ll score some brownie points in your book as well…

1. Pixie Lott – Boys and Girls (Hectic Remix)

perhaps a bit of a shocker, but this was my favorite and most-played track of 2010. another one inextricably tied to a music video i stumbled upon earlier this year. repetitive yes, but…clearly i don’t mind that. i could watch pixie lott do that lil leggy dance of hers all day long.

anyway, if you enjoy my top 5 tracks of 2010 even a fraction of how much i’ve enjoyed them, you will be plenty happy.
